All went well today. We are home now. Isla did amazing with fasting again. Bloods are all back up in the normal range. Had her EUA and some laser therapy today. Both the tumours in her right eye have shrunk to half their size from the chemo (these both had a good blood supply and we expected them to respond well to chemo). The tiny 2mm tumour in her left eye has shrunk a tiny bit (not a huge blood supply), so the Dr did some laser therapy on this today. There is a blood vessel very close to this tumour which supplies the retina, so he has to try and keep that in tact (although the body will create new a natural bypass if it does get damaged). He did find a new tumour today in the left eye (which is to be expected as she has the gene mutation). This one was very very small (about 1mm) and it also received some laser therapy today. She is not in any pain after laser therapy. She will eventually have cryotherapy on the bigger ones in the right eye and that will be a bit painful after. So all pretty good news considering and she's a happy little chappy now.........BUT the ophthalmologist (the one Dr in SA who treats retinoblastoma) has to move to Brisbane for a couple of years, so we will now have to start going to Melbourne for her EUAs (chemo still here). They are still working all of that out, but hopefully that will be state funded (flights + accommodation - possibly only for 1 parent though). Our Dr should be back in 2 years and will probably resume her follow ups when he returns. So that's a bit of a bugger, but the Drs in Melbourne are supposed to be fantastic as well, so I'm sure that will be fine.
So back again tomorrow and Wednesday for chemo round 2.xx
